Gold is hugely popular in Thailand. Everybody owns some. Some people own a lot. It's not the alloy of gold that is sold in America. This is close to pure gold, usually 99% or better. It is worn as jewelry but also frequently used to get cash when one is a little short. There is a gold shop on almost every corner in every city in the country. But Golf says she's not into gold. She knows it is handy as a cash substitute. But she prefers diamonds. According to her they are much more feminine and look nicer on a lady.
