Some of the sexiest women in Thailand find their way onto the covers of a few Thai fashion magazines that have high circulation in the country, particularly in Bangkok. As visitors may be aware, the government and Travel Authority of Thailand have been promoting the "Bangkok Fashion City" concept. It really got hyped early in 2004 with the big fashion parade down Sukhumvit that drew an estimated 300,000 onlookers. The parade featured floats on which dozens and dozens of Thai and international models strutted, displaying the latest fashions from Thai designers. The outfits on show were rather conservative compared to what is being shown in the fashion magazines like Image and Lips, among others. Apparel that has never been socially acceptable in the past is being shown right on the covers. Bikinis, lingerie, wet t-shirts, and lots of bare midrifs and backsides are appearing.

I scan the covers at a slightly larger size to give a better impression of the quality of the cover photos. But for the best viewing you should always buy the magazines. Not one of my regular readings, but TV Gossip sometimes has some of my favorite hotties. It's about...TV gossip?

Fitness is becoming popular in Thailand. And it might be important because the younger generations are getting fatter and fatter. So several fitness and slimming magazines have sprung up. They usually feature hotties to draw the attention of magazine buyers.

A new motor sport magazine for men in that already crowded group. Some top Thai models in addition to the cars.

Another Thai women's magazine featuring fashion, beauty and lots of pretty ladies.

A new gadgets 'n girls magazine featuring mobiles and accessories being used by hottie Thai models.

Yet another publication in the crowded Thai men's magazine space. This one is called M-Magazine, with the subtitle "For Maximum Life". Ok, makes a much sense as a lot of others.

I'm not sure how long Cosmopolitan magazine has been in Thailand. Forever maybe? It's just that I never bothered to pick it up. It's funny, kind of. Because in America it was regular reading for me and almost every other woman I knew. The truth is a lot of the stuff they talked about in the American version did not resonate with me. Every month the stories about how to do weird stuff in bed and how to have affairs and get away with it. So trashy. But the fashion sections were always nice to look at, although I could never afford anything they showed in there. I had to wait until I got back to Thailand and buy some nice looking copies at a tiny fraction of the price.

It wasn't long ago that there was no such thing as a publication about slimming and weightloss in Thailand. There just was not a market for this sort of thing. The few Thai ladies who were truly fat were actually sort of celebrities it was so rare. They would hold "jumbo" contests to find the biggest women in the country and there were few contestants - only a dozen or so real hefties. But it seems things are changing now. I have read that the health minister of Thailand said that up to 30% of Thai people are at risk of becoming obese. I'm not sure what that means to say they are "at risk". I guess they aren't fat yet but if they keep eating the way they are they will become fat - is that it? They say the reason for Thais becoming fatter is the change in eating habits. In the past most food was home-made style, whether it was eaten at home or at a local restaurant. Meals consisted of a large helping of rice or noodles, a medium portion of vegetables, and a smaller amount of meat or seafood. But a few things are changing that formula, the influx of western foods and fast food chains, the increase in processed foods, and the expansion of supermarkets and shopping malls. Things like dairy were almost non-existent before - most Thai people had never eaten milk, butter, cheese and ice cream. Hamburgers and pizza had never been seen. But the new supermarkets and malls are packed with McDonalds, KFC, Dairy Queen, Swensons, and Pizza Hut and all the big grocery stores like Tesco, Big C, and Carrefour have isle after isle of high fat processed foods, snacks and sweets. So...Thai people are getting fat, or at least they are worried about it. And the market for slimming spas, weightloss formulas and even fitness magazines is growing.

Of course, when you publish a magazine called Slimming you need to show slim ladies. And there are plenty of them in Thailand. The problem is narrowing your selection.

FHM is a well known men's magazine around the world and there is a Thai edition. They always feature sexy women, models, actresses, singers, you name it. And also events of interest, particularly when there are sexy girls involved. The Thai edition has some local cultural spin on the usual events. The covers usually feature some nice shots of whoever is hot at the time.

Praew is a classic women's fashion magazine, a big thick publication with lots of advertising for cosmetics, fashions and services the ladies like. They also have a few photos of popular Thai celebrities. Often the photos aren't that sexy but when summer time comes around there are always lots of bikinis.

I had not heard of this publication before called Lady Club until I saw this special album featuring Thai actress Kratae, the hottie with the huge chest. It is a one off publication featuring only Kratae in sexy poses, something rather unusual for mainstream actresses in Thailand.

A fitness magazine published in Thailand called Wow Fitness has some models that make you say Wow, that's for sure. It's actually a pretty good magazine with good monthly columns. Body and Mind has articles on spas, yoga and expert personal healthcare. Fashion and Beauty covers what the healthy and beautiful are doing about lifestyle choices. Attitude is sort of an editorial section on a variety of topics. Energy focuses on health and fitness, personal trainers, slimming and even $exercise. Food and Health is about...healthy eating of course. And round it out with reviews of resorts and other getaways.

A new magazine on the newstands at the beginning of 2007, Mix is a large format men's magazine with slick photography and coverage of all the things that interest the Thai guys. The models aren't well known but most are pretty cute and they poses are quite sexy.

Lots of uninteresting news and gossip about the stars on the Thai lakorn, the soap operas that are so popular on Thai television.

Arena is a classy and stylish men's magazine and they feature some classy and sexy Thai babes.

TV Inside is a celebrity gossip magazine that covers all the Thai TV and movie stars. They also have photo layouts of the hot stars.

Xray is a newcomer to the fashion, gossip and trend magazine world. First issue was in June 2006. They are shooting the hotties in their first few issues. We are looking forward to more of them.

Dara is what you would call cheesecake magazine. Most of it is printed on pulp with only the cover and a handful of center pages on glossy color paper. They usually have a very sexy and scantily clad model featured. And there are also stories of scandal both in Thailand and abroad, with pictures if they can get them.

Targeting more of the teenage girl crowd, this magazine does feature some of the hot celebrities.

Dichan is mostly about fashion and usually doesn't have many really sexy photos. But when summer time comes around it is bikini season so they can't help but be sexy when covering the season's fashion trends.

Mars is another Thai magazine that includes lots of sexy photos and many of the top female celebrities. Their covers are often sexy, other times sort of strange, always lots of skin.

Lips is right up there with Image as one of the top Thai fashion magazines. As the top models make the rounds they usually find their way on to the cover of this magazine. Same high quality sexy photos of gorgeous Thai models as Image.

Maxim is well-known around the world for its content that includes the hottest women from many countries. The Thai edition contains mostly local content and as a result some of the world's sexiest women.

Lite magazine for men is a little more cheesecake oriented than the fashion magazines. They get a lot of up and coming Thai models and actresses who are willing to show a little more skin in order to be known. Of course, it's pretty tame by western standards. Nevertheless, some very sexy Thai girls make this mag.

TV Review has gossip and some sexy shots of the stars on Thai TV. Most of the best looking actresses eventually end up in this magazine.

In magazine is all trashy gossip about the stars. And some nice photos too.

Volume is a magazine we haven't paid much attention to in the past. But they have some nice looking Thai ladies sometimes. With specials such as sporting in Bangkok they do themed photo shoots and get some hot looking women in their issues.

Image is a high end fashion mag with big circulation in Thailand. They feature many sexy Thai models wearing skimpy outfits. Bikinis are not socially acceptable even at the beach in Thailand but this publisher is pushing the limits with bikini clad models right on the cover.
 

Phooying is a woman's magazine with more of a focus on beauty and women's interests than sexy photos. But they do put some sexy shots on the cover now and then.

Front is yet another magazine with photos of all the Thai hotties. This magazine is more of a gossip and who's about town style publication. Check out the full size photo(s).

M is a Thai men's magazine that features very sexy pictures of some of the hottest models and actresses. The quality of the photography and printing is great, much better than some of the other bigger name magazines.
